Two Rockwall-Heath football players commit to colleges

Two Rockwall-Heath high school football players say they have orally committed to two different universities to play college football.

RHHS senior linebacker Austin Moss, the son of RHHS head coach Mickey Moss, committed to play at Arkansas.

RHHS senior quarterback Drew Hollingshead, the son of former SMU safety Tam Hollingshead, committed to play at the University of Houston.

Moss (6-3, 215), who expects to play either inside or outside linebacker, said he chose Arkansas over Baylor, Vanderbilt, Kansas and others because he has the chance to play soon and will be close enough that his family can see him play anytime.

Hollingshead, (6-3, 200), said he chose Houston over New Mexico St. and Idaho St. because of the coaching staff, the opportunity to be a starter and because he has family members living in Houston.

Last year, Hollingshead threw for more than 1400 yards and completed 60 percent of its passes with 14 touchdowns and three interceptions. He said he plans to redshirt his first year and then hopes to become the starting quarterback for the next four years.

Oral commitments are non-binding. The first day 2009 football recruits can sign letters of intent is Feb. 4.
