Rockwall-Heath Hawk running back Kendial Lawrence was named the Dallas Morning News Offensive Player of the Week for his performance last week against Sherman. He scored five touchdowns on runs of 76, 38, 20 and 4 yards, plus a 97-yard kickoff return. In all, the 5’9”, 180 senior running back rushed for 190 yards on 16 carries.

Regarding his play, Head Rockwall-Heath Coach Mickey  Moss said, “He seemed to have another [gear] that was a notch above everyone else on Friday. While watching the game film, there were several times I just said, ‘Wow!’ The plays he made were the kind that just breaks the morale of your opponent.”

Lawrence also credited his blockers about his kickoff return.

“We’ve been working on setting up the wedge in practice a lot. The way the return was set up, it was wide open when I caught the ball, so I hit it.”

Lawrence said he has been offered college football scholarships by Arizona, Buffalo, Houston and Kansas and is being recruited by Georgia Tech and Iowa State. He said he hasn’t made up his mind because he is focusing on the season for now.
