Royce City crushed in home opener by Frisco Wakeland, 45-6

Royse City’s Ryan Fedric scored a touchdown on a 51-yard run during the third quarter but that was about the only excitement the Bulldogs could muster in their home opener Friday night as Frisco Wakeland crushed the Bulldogs, 58-6.

Royse City rallies past Mt. Pleasant, 42-38, Friday night

Scotty Arterberry’s 30-yard touchdown run with 1:24 to play capped a furious fourth-quarter comeback as Royse City rallied past Mount Pleasant, 42-38, Friday night at RCISD Stadium.

Playing without star quarterback Richard Morrison, the Bulldogs (2-1) led 21-3 at halftime, but had to rally in the fourth quarter after allowing Mt. Pleasant (2-2) to score 21 points during the third quarter to take the lead 24-21.

Arterberry rushed for three touchdowns, ran 30 times for 129 yards and completed 7 of 15 passes for 106 yards.

In a losing effort, Mt. Pleasant quarterback Terrell Howard rushed for four TDs, ran 25 times for 187 yards, plus completed 15 or 24 passes for 108 yards.

Three County football players listed among most exciting by Dallas Morning News

Three high school football players from Rockwall County were listed among the most exciting in the Dallas area yesterday by Dallas Morning News sportswriter Keith Whitmire.

They are “Speed Back” Kendial Lawrence, running back at Rockwall-Heath; “Big Hitter” Austin Moss, Rockwall Heath linebacker; and “Athlete” Richard Morrison, quarterback at Royse City.
