Rockwall-Heath clinches playoff berth, rallies with fourth-quarter TD to beat Pearce, 27-24

Down 24-20 in the fourth quarter in a game with serious playoff implications, Rockwall-Heath’s Kevin Rodgers completed a 15-yard pass to Cameron Wilson and Trevor Wilson kicked the PAT as the Hawks rallied to beat Richardson Pearce 27-24 last night at Richardson’s Eagle-Mustang stadium and clinch a playoff berth.

Behind the almost perfect passing of Rodgers, who completed 16 or 20 passes for 250 yards, two TDs and no interceptions; plus the running of Dorian Lawry, who gained 167 yards on 31 carries and two TDs; the Hawks rallied from a 17-14 halftime deficit.

Rockwall-Heath scores 21 straight points in second half to win homecoming game over Royse City, 31-24

Although the 10-10 halftime score was close, Rockwall-Heath scored 21 straight points in the second half behind the passing and running of quarterback Kevin Rodgers and won their homecoming game, 31-24, in a District 10-4A offensive show against neighboring Royse City Friday night at Rockwall.

Despite the loss, rebuilding and improving Royse City (0-4, 0-7) did make it closer than expected by rolling up 490 yards total offense, including 438 yards passing by Bulldog quarterback Taylor Corbin.

Richardson Pearce holds off Rockwall in last minute in wild offensive show, wins 43-36

Wow, what a thrilling game!

Down 43-29 with just over three minutes left in the game, the Area’s 12th-ranked Rockwall Yellow Jackets rallied to score a touchdown with 58 seconds remaining, recovered an onside kick and then drove to Richardson Pearce’s 30 yard-line, but failed to complete a fourth-down pass with nine seconds remaining.

As a result, the Area’s 8th-ranked Mustangs (5-2, 3-1) held on to defeat disappointed Rockwall (4-3, 2-2) in a wild offensive show last night at Rockwall’s Wilkerson-Sanders Stadium, 43-36.

Although the Yellow Jackets amassed 562 yards total offense, the Mustangs were able to convert more of their 531 yards total offense into points.

Greenville scores 21 straight points, blasts Royse City, 45-28

After Royse City grabbed an early 7-0 lead on a 1-yard run by Ryan Fedric on the game’s opening drive, Greenville scored 21 straight points on three touchdowns and PATs and never looked  back, blasting the rebuilding Bulldogs, 45 to 28, Friday night in a 10-4A District game at Royse City Stadium.

Rockwall HCA scores winning TD in final minute, beats Arlington Fellowship, 52-48

Rockwall’s Heritage Christian Academy celebrated its homecoming Friday night with an exciting 52-48 victory over Arlington Fellowship Academy, stopping AFA on the five-yard line as time expired.  

In the see-saw battle which saw seven lead changes, HCA scored the winning touchdown with just over a minute to go, when junior Asa Burke caught an 11-yard pass from junior quarterback Austin Pettit, Burke’s second TD of the night.

Myles scores four TDs to lead Rockwall over winless R.L. Turner, 49-7

Backup running back Del Myles ran for four touchdowns, including runs of 65 and 75 yards, while rushing for 228 yards on 18 carries to lead Rockwall to a big win over winless Carrollton R.L. Turner, 49-7,  Thursday night at Standridge Stadium.

Myles was replacing injured starter Josh Broach and finished the evening with his third 100-yard rushing game of the season for the Yellow Jackets ((4-2, 2-1).

Rockwall-Heath scores touchdowns on its first six possessions, clobbers Rockwall, 55-38

Scoring touchdowns on its first six possessions, Rockwall-Heath scored more points in the first half against I-30 Cross-town Classic rival Rockwall than it has in any complete game this season, and the 13th-ranked Hawks clobbered the seventh-ranked Yellow Jackets 55-38 last night at Wilkerson-Sanders stadium, winning the inaugural Congressman Ralph Hall trophy.

Behind the rushing of junior running back Dorian Lawry, who rushed 24 times for 227 yards and five TDs, including 29 and 44-yard runs, Heath (4-1, 2-0) scored three touchdowns in the first quarter and led 21-0 before Rockwall finally scored its first TD.
