With deep sadness, we report the tragic death yesterday of young entrepreneur businessman Bobby Graves of Heath.

Bobby was well-known and well-liked throughout the community, owned several businesses and employed over 30 people.

Although details are still sketchy, Bobby was apparently killed yesterday afternoon in a hunting accident at his cattle ranch in Rains County , when he apparently fell near a creek and his gun discharged. Since he was alone at the time, no one actually knows the details. When he did not respond to numerous cell phone calls from his business associates, his ranch hands began searching for him, found his empty truck and then his body.

In just his mid-30s, Bobby was a loving husband and father who owned several businesses, including a mortgage company, a concert lighting and medical equipment firm. He also raised a large herd of cattle on his farm.

Bobby leaves behind his wife, Shelle Graves, two teenage step-daughters, two daughters – ages 12 and 8 – plus their 6-year-old son. The children all attend public schools in Heath.  read more

Bobby will be missed dearly. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family. Trey plays baseball and football w/ our son. Bobby was always there to help the boys improve their skills. They will certainly feel the void but will go on doing “their best” for HIM. We are sorry for your loss. Please know that we are here if any of you need anything. Sincerely, The Curtin Family (TX Sports and RYFA flag Hawks)

We are deeply saddened to have heard about the death of Bobby. My son, Ty plays for an older Texas Sports team but his cousin, my nephew, Casey Curtin plays baseball with Trey. We have both come to know Bobby through baseball. Ty told me he will miss going to his cousin’s games and hearing Bobby asking him, “Hey, what’s up Ty, big man?” Although we did not know him well, we knew him well enough to know he was a good guy with a big heart. A man who loved God, his wife and kids. Our prayers are with all of you daily. In Him, Michelle & Ty Thompson

Bobby was a loving father, husband and friend. He will be missed by so many people – and never took a day for granted. The family is in our prayers.
Bobby was such a giving, unbiased person – and lived life to the fullest, with his best friend, Shelle, by his side!
We love all of you – hang in there. Xoxo, Sherri & the family

I was so shocked like everyone else to hear of this sad news. Bobby played football with my brother & they graduated together @ Minden High School. He was such a sweet, loving & caring person. My prayers are with Shelle & all of his children. Just keep God in the center & he’ll do the rest. Again, I’m so sorry about Bobby.

  9. Bobby called up one night this fall to say he was in Minneapolis and wanted to stop in the next morning (Douglas, Manitoba, Canada) for a quick visit to see his bull Global. While it was a short visit he relaxed on our deck and blessed us with his relaxed and friendly way. It was always nice to see his innocent child like smile. I consider it privilege to have known Bobby. Our prayers are for his family.

Shelle, we are so sorry for your incredible loss. Even the little time we had to meet Bobby, we were impressed and blessed by his kindness and gentle, humble manner. We are praying multiple times daily for you and the kids, that God will hold you up. Even from so far away, I love you, my cousin!

  11. I am very sorry to hear about Bobby. Although, I had just met Bobby in August at a cattle sale in Canada, I considered him a friend already and looked forward to a friendship and doing business for many years to come. I was impressed by his positive outlook, enthusiasm, and his willingness to help others. Bobby’s family and friends will be in our prayers.

  12. Shelle, My deepest sympathies and prayers go out to you and your family.

  13. “God doesn’t necessarily give you the people & circumstances you want, He gives you what you NEED.
To help you, to hurt you, to leave you, to love you and to make you into the person you were meant to be.” I am not sure who wrote this, but wanted to put this down for comfort.

  14. I played high school football with Bobby in 85 and 86 and remember him as being a dedicated, disciplined and highly skilled player. He was lots of fun and based on the other responses was a man of integrity and provider for his family. My prayers go out to the family during this difficult time. May God bless you and comfort you.
