Don’t tether your dog in Rockwall for more than two hours or be fined $500

A new ordinance prohibiting dog-owners from tethering their dogs for longer than two hours per every 24-hour period went into effect in the City Rockwall Dec. 21, with a 30-day grace period to allow owners to comply.

Tethering means tying or chaining a dog to a fence, pole, stake or other fixed object.

Violation of the ordinance can result in a Class C misdemeanor and punishment of up to a $500 fine.

The council passed the ordinance unanimously to prevent dogs from being abused, plus to prevent dogs from becoming agressive, which research shows they will become from extended tethering.

Burger House to open next week in Rockwall

“We make our award-winning burgers, crispy seasoned fries, real shakes and malts the old fashioned way, just like they were made back in ’51 when we first opened our doors”….

That’s the way Burger House describes their food on their website which will be served at their new restaurant opening Jan. 18 in Rockwall at 919 E. I-30, where Double Dave’s Pizza was previously located, in front of the old Circuit City store.

This will be their seventh location, after opening their original location way back in 1951 at 6913 Hillcrest Ave. in Park Cities, next to SMU and Highland Park High School.

Their menu consists a variety of burgers, hot dogs, chili, chicken sandwiches, grilled cheese sandwiches, different flavors of ”Cokes,” root beer floats and lots of fries with cheese and chili.

Now you won’t have to cross the Lake to find a Burger House. Call 972-722-6622 or 972-722-6639 for info.

Two more businesses shut down in Rockwall

Two more businesses have shut down in Rockwall, at least temporarily.

Quizno’s Subs - in the Target shopping center - will apparently reopen soon, after a new franchise owner is selected. According to a neighboring business owner, the previous franchise owner was having some problems and had to close down. Apparently Quizno’s corporate still wants to keep a shop open in Rockwall.

Avanti Skin and Laser Center, which moved from Rowlett last year to Rockwall just south of Kroger, closed their doors near the end of 2009. Haven’t been able to reach their owners, but they are directing their former customers to Juvanew Medspa at The Harbor, which is the website that appears when you click on Avanti’s website.
