My wife ALWAYS enjoys going to Applebee’s for what she says is their absolutely delicious pecan-crusted chicken salad!
So since a friend agreed to join us for lunch today, I suggested Applebee’s to try to please my wife. It worked! As usual, she said it was incredibly good!
As the menu describes it:
“Crunchy pecan-crusted chicken, crisp romaine lettuce, mandarin oranges, sweet-glazed pecans, celery, dried cranberries and bleu cheese crumbles—all tossed with our honey balsamic vinaigrette.”
The salad is huge, and she usually can just order half a salad and get full. But if she’s really hungry, as she was today…she’ll clean the whole plate! Price is $9.99 or $8.49 for the half, which is really much more than that.
Although I thought I’d just grab one of their huge burgers, I spyed the “French Dip Sliders” on the menu and decided to try that.
Uummm….delicious! I always love dipping the bread and tender roast beef into the au jus! Reading from the menu:
“Three toasted mini buns piled with thinly sliced roast beef with Swiss cheese. Served with au jus.”
Unfortunately the fries were kind of cold and tasteless, but ketchup helped. I should probably email Applebee’s corporate to complain, since the last time I did so they were very responsive and gave us some free meals!
The service at Applebee’s is always tops, plus I like the atmosphere because it’s not too noisy and we could actually talk with our friend without interruption.
I’d give Applebee’s an A- or B+ for this visit. They just need to improve those fries!
It’s located on the I-30 feeder road, just west of Ridge Rd, and open late seven nights a week.
