Two ministries from Rockwall’s Lake Pointe Church will be selling over 650 gently-used prom and formal dresses for just $15-75 this Saturday at the Hilton Bella Harbor Hotel in Rockwall.
Shoes, purses and accessories will also be available at discount prices at the “Formal-ly Yours” event, which runs from 8 am until Noon.
The dresses range from short cocktail dresses to fully beaded long gowns, including many name-brand dresses, such as Terry Costa, White House Black Market and David’s Bridal.
The sale is sponsored by the Lake Pointe Girls’ Ministry, the Adoption and Orphan Care Ministry, plus the Skyline Junior Volleyball League, which also plan to give 20-40 dresses at no cost to abused/neglected teenage girls who have been removed from their homes by CPS .
“With the shaky economy, we hope this sale with help girls all across the Metroplex find the perfect dress at an incredible price,” said Jennifer Piercy, orphan ministry coordinator at Lake Pointe Church.
In addition, there will also be a $5 section for retro clothes for costume or theme parties, she said.
“For each person that donated a dress or buys a dress, they will have the incredible opportunity to “Give back in style” as proceeds from the sale will benefit orphan care in South Africa,” said Piercy.
“In addition, we have the opportunity to raise money for housing for children suffering with HIV/AIDS in South Africa. I’m amazed by the generosity of the Hilton Bella Harbor/Rockwall that provided a ballroom for the sale and the generosity of each individual that gave a dress.”
