Royse City’s up-and-coming teenage country and western singing sensation Brittnee Lee celebrated the release of her fourth CD last Saturday night, with a two-hour musical concert for about 400 enthusiastic fans at Garland’s Granville Art Center.

My wife and I were two of them, really enjoying her music and singing, which reminded us of Patsy Cline (“Crazy”) and LeAnn Rimes, two of her favorite entertainers.

This girl can really sing and belt it out!

Dozens of fans were whistling, clapping, shouting out and even screaming for her, as the five-foot tall entertainer moved back and forth across the stage.

Playing backup behind her was the Paul Eason Band from Austin, composed of five very talented, experienced musicians, whose playing blended with well with Lee’s charming vocals.

The five-foot-tall, 17-year-old singer/songwriter sang numerous original songs from her new CD entitled “Purpose,” as well as other favorites and originals from her three previous CDS, including “Don’t Drink & Drive,” “He Said, She Said” and “Stand Back Up.”

She said she gave the new CD that name because she believes that she now knows her purpose in life is to entertain and uplift people through her music, which she both writes and sings.

“Thank you God, You and Your angels have always been there to guide me my entire life. You have shown me what my purpose is in life,” she wrote in her program. Thanks for the blessings you’ve given me.

In between songs, Lee explained how excited she now is to have the same managers who managed LeAnn Rimes during the first eight years of her career, which also started in downtown Garland at the Old Opry Hall. They are Dallasites Max Archer and Lyle Walker, who also currently manage country artist Steve Holy, from Dallas, whose hit song about a year ago was “Brand New Girlfriend.”

Like many entertainers, Lee sometimes uses her talent to help her deal with challenges she faces in the real world.

“The song (on the new CD) that is closest to me is a song that I wrote called ‘Breakdown’,” Lee said. “My mom has been battling cancer for over a year, and was recently given a short prognosis. The song is about going through such a trying time in my life, and how God ‘saved me from my breakdown’.”

She had despite receiving bad news from doctors several times, her mother continues to stay by her side through it all.

Britnee said that she hopes that she can someday sing with country star Brad Paisley.

“I would love to perform with Brad Paisley,” Lee said. “I wrote a song called ‘The Perfect Catch’ that is going to be on my new album. It is about a guy that likes fishing more than a girl. I think it would be great if Brad and I could do a medley with his hit, ‘I’m Gonna Miss Her’ and my song, ‘The Perfect Catch’.”
