School breakfasts and lunches in Rockwall ISD schools will cost twenty-five cents more beginning this Fall.
Breakfasts will increase to $1.25, elementary lunches to $2.25 and secondary lunches to $2.50.
Increases will be used to increase wages, update equipment plus provide healthier food choices, according to RISD’s Nutrition Dept.
RISD currently uses trans fat-free, all-vegetable oil for cooking and will have all fryers removed from secondary schools by the Summer of 2009, at the latest. They’ve already been removed from elementary schools.
The only other change this coming school year will be less sodas in the vending machines, RISD says.
I wonder what they’re replacing them with?
